Communication

Communication in all its simplicity, is an exchange of information that provides increased mutual understanding.

In reality, however, communication is never simple. Because what you remember from a conversation is not what you heard, but what you thought about what you heard, the risk of misunderstanding, communication breakdown, and subsequent conflict is always present

Trust not in the gift of speech!

Communication is a complex skill, and an incredibly important one for anyone wishing to lead and influence.

Skills can be trained, but they must also be maintained, updated, and adapted based on the situation and audience.

Effective communication? It’s determinded by the receiver. The foundation of successful and effective communication is about presenting what you want to convey in such a way that it is received as you intended. HAST Utveckling’s various services fill the communicator’s, facilitator’s, and educator’s toolbox with what you need to develop your skills in storytelling, presentation techniques, rhetoric, conversation methodology, feedback, and coaching.

However, what ultimately determines if you are effective in your communication is how it is received on the other side. It doesn’t matter how clear you think you are. If the result is something other than what you intended, then you were not clear. Your skill depends on your ability to listen, understand, and adapt your communicationt to the receiver’s conditions and preconceptions. Therefore, HAST Utveckling’s communication training always starts from what we know about the principles behind human behaviour. We help you use the right tools at the right time, based on knowledge and the understanding that everyone sees, hears, thinks, feels, and experiences the same reality in different ways.

“My impression of HAST is that you are stamped with SERIOUS. You stand out from the crowd with your knowledge, and your ability to convey it. The insights i got about conversation and listening skills in the training, gave me entirely new perspectives on my work as an investigator.”

The quality of communicatin depends on the quality of the relationship. Communication is about making something ‘common’. Hence it requires at least two individuals and a relationship between them. If the relationship is open and respectful, and the conversation is honest and vulnerable, trust is built, which minimise friction in communication.

No matter how technically skilled a communicator you are, there is always the risk of slipping up: saying something thoughtless or having a sharp tone due to your own stress, choosing the wrong channel at the wrong time, missing the stress and emotional state of the receiver, etc. If you have invested in building a good relationship beforehand, the likelihood of kind interpretation, less friction and discord, and even constructive conflict resolution increases.

Therefore, how you build rapport, credibility, trust and psychological safety are also practical skills trained in HAST Utveckling’s communication services.
